DO GOOD - FEEL GOOD
Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra is successful because of many people and organizations.
Our Vision
We believe the freedom and exhilaration of outdoor challenges changes lives. No one should be left behind simply because of a disability!
Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra is a volunteer-based nonprofit dedicated to changing the lives of children and adults with disabilities and their families by:
DSES has adaptive equipment to fulfill everyone's winter and summer dreams: gliding down a snow-covered mountainside, cruising on a cycle or skimming over a placid lake.
Activities are customized to each individual; one-on-one or in a group. Our goal is for everyone to be active year round!

New DSES Uniforms On Order - Donations Needed
It's finally time for new uniforms and we need your help!! After five years in our current second hand duds (thank you Mammoth Mountain) we have ordered gorgeous new jackets and soft shells. Our new gear sports DSES colors and our famous logo. We will have better recognition on the slopes and our on-hill image will finally catch up to the professionalism of the organization. Plus, all our volunteers and instructors will stay warm and toasty and dry!!
Mountain Uniforms, a Tahoe based company, has been extremely easy to work with and has given us a great "non-profit" discount, BUT we're not there yet. To pay the balance on the uniforms and have them ready in November we need $14,500.
We are accepting all donations. Come by the office to check out the samples OR visit www.mountainuniforms.com to see uniforms for other ski schools.
Operation High Altitude Wrapup

Incredible attitudes rivaled the high altitude at the latest Disabled Sports Wounded Warrior Project event. At the urging of last winter’s Wounded Warriors, Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra took their show on the road and outside for the first-ever campout with our heroes from the Balboa Naval Medical Hospital.
Returning snowboarder, Josh Hooker, brought up six other warriors to show them the beautiful Sierra. All of the participants shared some striking similarities; they were all from the Army and all amazing athletes.

Ariana Sandoval writes - "I have made new dreams and memories in Mammoth... YOU ALL ROCK!!!!"

Thank you for getting me up on the chair lift. All of the face plants made me feel so strong. I know that sounds strange but the more I fell the more I grew in confidence.
I did not die! I lived. I am not just living anymore. Once I came off the snow, I can say for certain that I am now truly ALIVE. I want to try so many things. I want to climb and ride again. I will drive again. I hope to see all of you every break I get. I look forward to all my winters, springs, falls and summers! I thank you all for your friendships. I feel that I have met people of greatness.

Bi-Skiing With Jenny by Wally Hofmann

Here's a quick story and some photos about an amazing young woman. This week I've been working at Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra with a 21-year old student named Jenny. We've helped her get back on the slopes after a 5-year absence.

Dennis Hampton Scholarship Fund

Dennis Hampton was a long time resident of Mammoth Lakes. He arrived in the 1970's for a fun ski vacation and loved Mammoth and winter sports so much he never left. Dennis found his home among the other wonderful Mammoth locals and loved skiing, kayaking, hiking and mountain biking. He was happiest when he was talking with his friends and listening to their stories.
In memory of Dennis, his family and friends are establishing a scholarship fund to sponsor children with disabilities so they can participate in outdoor sports here in the Eastern Sierra. Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra, a program that Dennis loved and supported, teaches children of all ages and all disabilities.
