Terry Smutney, Jeremy McGhee and EL Smoogen attended the Hartford Ski Spectacular in Breckenridge, Colorado December 4-11, 2005. This event brings skiers from all over the nation and of all abilities together for a week to clinic, train, race, instruct and most importantly learn the latest in the disabled sports arena.

The Mammoth Lakes Noon Rotary and the Christopher Reeves Foundation donated the money for three of DSES’s volunteers to attend this event. These clinics helped sharpen their skiing skills and learn new techniques in teaching methodologies. They learned about the most up-to-date equipment and teaching aids available for disabled skiing and snowboarding.

Because of the generous donations allowing them to participate, they brought back to DSES a ton of new knowledge and experiences. Terry spends most of his time in a wheelchair and says that skiing is the best medicine ever invented. When Terry and other people that volunteer with DSES have the opportunity to pass that wonderful feeling onto someone else just once ... it can change their life!

Thank you Mammoth Lakes Noon Rotary, Christopher Reeves Foundation and everyone who helped make this trip possible for Terry, Jeremy and EL.
