Peak To Peak To Peak

.

Our one and only Ken Klein successfully tackled a huge undertaking: the Peak to Peak to Peak! Creating his own bike-athon, he rode 700 miles and raised $5000 to split between his two favorite adaptive sports programs. Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra and the U.S. Adaptive Recreation Center in Big Bear will divide the money that was donated in honor of Ken’s crazy stamina by people from all over the country.

Ken left Mammoth and was accompanied by Kathy Copeland and Thalia Hanson for the first leg of the trip....106 miles down the road to Lone Pine. Susie, Ken’s wife, was the sag-extraordinaire....handy with everything from bike parts to chocolate chip cookies! His destination was Big Bear where he then turned around and rode BACK to Mammoth with USARC’s annual fundraiser bike ride, the Peak to Peak Pedal.

Under sunny skies and cool temperatures the final leg of the Multi-Peak Adventure ended successfully at the Mammoth Mountain Inn. Even though the winds generally seemed to be headed in the wrong direction....both ways....they were never significantly strong and were only mildly annoying on occasion. Ken sat on his bike seat for OVER 44 hours and we all thank him for every stroke of the pedal!
