Summer Update At the beginning of June, we
hosted 10 Wounded Warriors with staff and
family. They enjoyed the vistas of the Eastern
Sierras with horseback riding, kayaking, fishing,
cycling, and rock climbing.
Our summer
activities have included handcycling
adventures around town, kayaking and boating on Lake
Mary, mountain biking on Mammoth Mountain, horseback
riding, and golfing in our gorgeous
backyard.
We still have
our Pedal~Paddle event August 13th-15th, as well as
beach fun at June Lake on August 12th. Call
to participate either as a student or volunteer at
760.934.0791!
Thanks for keeping posted and
stay tuned for what's next in our world at DSES!

Sierra Cycle Challenge
Success! More than
$43,000-raised by
our intrepid riders
17-the number of
riders who rode their hearts out during three hot,
rainy and dry days in the Eastern Sierra in late
July
150-the number of miles pedaled
around the Eastern Sierra.
Infinite-the
amount of times we said and will say thank you to our
supporters: volunteers, donors and staff.
2-the razor blade number used to
cut off Kathy's locks at the local radio station KMMT in
celebration of surpassing the $30,000 milestone.
Cindy
Stern-this year's top fundraiser (second
year in a row)! Way to go Cindy!
Our success at the
Sierra Cycle Challenge was astronomical this year. Thank
you all! |
Pedal~Paddle: August
13-15
A weekend full of fun on the road and on the
water. For this event, a group of
students, volunteers, and staff will be camping out
at McGee Campground. The days will be full of
cycling, handcycling (a form of adaptive cycling), as
well as kayaking and fishing on the beautiful waters of
the Eastern
Sierra. |
Know
someone with a child on the Spectrum?
A group of international researchers at the
UCLA Center for Autism Research and Treatment (CART) are
trying to discover genes that contribute to
autism. They are conducting a research
study to help achieve this. If
